Dominican Republic among 10 most Googled Countries from the USA
The DR is a tourist destination of increasing interest to Americans. As evidenced by last year’s 2.2 million visitors from the US, Invertix reports.
The trend is on a continuing upward spiral that has seen year on year figures seeing an increase for the last 10 years.
Giovanny Stella, Google manager for Colombia, Central America and the Caribbean, said the Dominican Republic is one of the 10 most Googled by Americans, above Germany.
Speaking in the Regional Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Stella said the country is in second place, second only to Mexico on the list of Latin America’s most sought after countries from the United States.
As for LatAm cities and tourist destinations, Americans look search for Cancun, in Mexico, and Punta Cana, in the DR, thus demonstrating the interest they have in visiting those places.
“There is a very strong interest from the United States towards Mexico, that is something that at the level of tourism can and should be capitalized. Also to the Dominican Republic, there are more searches about that country than about Germany, it’s an interesting fact.”
