They implement a socioeconomic recovery strategy with more than 500 MSMEs )Micro Small and Medium Enterprises benefiting
The United Nations Development Program ( UNDP ) , together with key allies, presented the results of the strategy ” Inclusive, sustainable and resilient socioeconomic recovery of the tourism value chain”, which included more than 1,700 beneficiaries, among them entrepreneurs from some 581 MSMEs .
The Strategic Plan for the Sustainable Development of Tourism in Las Terrenas was also designed and information points were established to prevent gender violence in the area of Las Terrenas , Samaná.
The initiative was divided into three fundamental components. First , policy frameworks were developed that included the creation of a strategic municipal development plan for the period 2023-2028.
The second component consisted of the georeferencing of MSMEs in a database and the creation of a dashboard for decision-making in public policies .
Finally, the third component of the Sustainable Development of Tourism in Las Terrenas included a diagnosis of the employment situation and participation of women in the value chain of the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic.
The strategic plan for the Municipal Development of Las Terrenas 2023-2028 was delivered by Inka Mattila, resident representative of the UNDP , to the mayor of Las Terrenas , Eduardo Esteban. This document establishes the priorities that will guide the path to the prosperity of Las Terrenas , with a clear focus on the protection of its citizens and environmental sustainability.

UNDP regional methodologies were also implemented , such as “En Marcha” and “Punte en Marcha”, which benefited more than 581 MSME companies with more than 790 hours of training and personalized support.
These companies had the opportunity to improve their digital capabilities, innovation and sustainability, with an emphasis on areas such as inventory management , the use of social networks and marketing strategies . As a result, many businesses experienced an increase of up to 30% in their gross monthly sales, UNDP said in a press release.
Sustainable Development of Tourism in Las Terrenas in addition to these concrete results, the Business Continuity Plan was presented as an essential tool to prepare for and respond to future crises.
Regarding prevention and support for women victims of gender violence , information points were established in key places such as the Puerto Plaza Hotel, the Alisei Hotel, the La Residencia del Paseo Hotel and the El Loro Restaurant.
