Dear Friends both old and new

Life here in Las Terrenas just gets better and better!

We have lived here just over eleven and a half years.
We were talking about our lives and one thing was agreed that in all this time we have had only a very few bad experiences.

These have been related to our own ignorance and trust of various mechanics and service people, rather than being a victims of direct crime.
Of course in the first few months without any language skills or local knowledge the learning curve was pretty steep.

But we found that almost every person we met both expats and Dominicans were only to pleased to offer help and advise.

Okay when we arrived here the town was a lot smaller and pretty much "Wild West" with more horses on the rough unpaved roads than cars, you would only see about 30 cars a day and the motor bikes possibly 80.
We have seen so much growth and progress which we in the main support and are pleased with, all places grow and this is good for those that live and work here.
Yes the roads are busy the town is not sleepy anymore but such is life and we accept it as we love Las Terrenas and our lives are enriched from living here.

For anyone thinking about living here full or part time dont ever worry about not feeling welcome, accepted or lonely, Las Terrenas has some of the friendliest people on the planet from over 23 countries ready to welcome you!

A lot of people especially our families ask us if we miss England and would we ever return, the simple answer is "No" and "No"
We both go back to see family and friends who of course we miss and we miss the history countryside.
But swapping our lives to go back to draconian rules, high taxes, high crime and bad weather no thank you.

Below I have put a short piece about one of our days off from work, plus some new listings and articles!
mosquito beach bar las terrenas0001

A perfect day in paradise!

We had decided to spend a little more time enjoying the beautiful beaches and warm ocean waters of Las Terrenas.

So we have adopted the Mosquito Beach Bar as our new hang out to relax meet friends, swim and have a few cold drinks.

The bar is right on the beach and the bar staff Hansel and Epi are some of the best.
The bar is laid back with loungers and shady areas to enjoy a drink or great food, beach attire is acceptable.

They often have events which are a great time to catch up with friends and the local gossip.

We had a wonderful afternoon snorkeling, swimming and just talking over a few drinks before it was time to leave for home.
Every Saturday at home is as many people know Johnnie's Pizza night, home made delicious pizza.

Johnnie who lives with us makes the dough then its a free for all on the toppings.
The dogs get my tasty crusts and love the cooked Chorizo sausage.
We then watched the sun go down and our Caribbean Martins fly around our terrace in and out of their tiny nests. We both sat back and agreed that however we ended up here (thats a story for another day) we are blessed!
