I hope this newsletter finds you your families and loved ones all well and keeping safe from this life changing situation we all find ourselves in!

I want to let you all know what the current situation is here in Las Terrenas and Samana and in the Dominican Republic as a whole.
|
I congratulate the President his government the local authorities the Police and Military along with all key workers and the people of this country.
|
The measures that have been in place since the 16th March as rule are being obeyed, these include self isolation only going out for food and essential items and a curfew from 5pm to 6am.
|
|
It is Compulsory to wear a mask in public and all gatherings, public events and public transport has been banned.
|
|
Travel between towns and provinces is restricted with road blocks and the main highways being closed.
|
As a result the cases and deaths seem to be limited to the high density cities.
|
Las Terrenas and the Samana Peninsula has seen very few cases

We are working from home and continue to support our staff who are in quarantine and not able to work.
|
We are still selling properties mainly in the new developments and continue to receive many daily enquiries, I think some people are looking at life style changes and a safer place to live!

In Las Terrenas Food and all other supplies are in good supply we have not seen any panic buying or shortages of any items.
|
Although the restaurants are closed a lot are supplying take away food and utalising the delivery service Komida
|
The local government are disinfecting the streets and the Police are enforcing the rules, it seems only trapped European tourists seem to not understand with several elderly couples getting arrested for being on the closed beaches.
|
Life is good for most people in Las Terrenas with the community helping those in need its wonderful to be part of this town.
|
|
We are pretty unique as a lot of other expat towns are having many issues!
|
The President has asked for another 25 days of lockdown Congress has to approve this i think that 15 days will be granted.
|
All borders, ports and airports remain shut to anything other than supplies and repatriating people back to their own countries.
|
You may see that airlines are advertising flights for June and July this is not possible until this government lifts the restrictions and then it has a 14 day quarantine programme for all visitors in place.
|

I would like to just offer some advice to those of you looking to come to Las Terrenas looking for property.
Please be aware that due to the busy rental demands especially on the weekends viewing property on Saturday is difficult.
Sunday is almost impossible as developments are closed and getting staff to open up is hard as Sunday is their only days holiday.
So please ensure that you look at coming in the week and allowing at least 3 or 4 days to see the town its places of interest and property.
